These issues have already been discussed here and there, but here's my take on them:Personally, I desregarded (from the beginning) the rule book's take on Villains attacking from your hand--the "You gain the experience of defeating the Villain" idea. That just never made sense. Why would that experience make you want to attack your fellow heroes?
I see it as even though the Villains physically come out of YOUR deck, they are simply escaping from prison, and it's out of your control. Sure, they attack your opponent, but that's not your fault--It's just who they choose to go after. "Oopsie!"
Also, concerning the "Green Lantern Gets Heat Vision" Or "Batman Uses the Lasso of Truth" contoversies, I see it as even though you have a main character, you are building a team of super heroes, and there's a variety of equipment and powers that may come into play.
It's not a perfectly logical situation all the time, but it's such a fast-paced and fun game that I easily set-aside any quibbles concerning equipment/powers (that belong to specific heroes)and just enjoy the gameplay.
