Yeah, the - villains from your hand represents the experience you've gained defeating them - is stupid. So I defeated Two Face and now when I play him I get to flip a card up and if I guessed odd or even I get the card? Or when I defeat Bizzaro the experience gained allows me to turn weaknesses into victory points? The villain abilities are so thematically attached to who the villains are it seems silly to play it the way they say.

But I love the game and just don't care, sometimes I make up crazy continuities with my buddies to laugh about or we just laugh and move on. It's a half hour game, I'm not going to worry about it. Villains become good guys sometimes, even if just for one issue or a small run, it does happen.

All thematic problems with this game seem silly to me. I never worried about going into Thunderstone with a handfull of fireballs (no one casts them.. they just go there on their own and give the points back to me!) because it's a silly little card game. DC is even more so but isn't treated as such because people love the IP so much.
