I said nothing about Man of Steel being weak, I said that it was inconsistent. It's probably the strongest card in the game, when it works, but when it doesn't... It costs 3 too much. Making it give 4 Power if there are no Superpowers in your discard pile makes it still a bad card, costing 2 more than it should. Just a tad less frustrating.

The counterarguments presented here are all "but it usually doesn't matter". That is unacceptable, and my entire point - these cards are inconsistent, unpredictable, and they often make bad players win. Not right, from a game design perspective.

Ascension still has the best player win the most often, and more importantly, when you buy a card, in almost all cases, it does what it says. Constructs lie on the "why is this card like this?" part of the curve, as the later you draw them, the worse off you are, but there's nothing remotely at Mera's level. Mera reaching a Lobo on turn 3 means you win, through no choice of your own.

The best player should win more often in all games, otherwise, what's the point? There's no reason to play a game in which you aren't rewarded for good decision making.
