I agree that Man of Steel is pretty overpowered. We even banned him as a house rule ourselves but later added him back because we realized that you only see him every so often and not every single game, and he is easy to play around. The reason he is overpowered, besides what he does within himself, is all the combos that exist that you can do to abuse him quite a bit.
For example: Bat Signal, and there are 3 of these in the game.
Robin to get back Bat Signal, and there are also 3 of those in the game.
Paralax to double all of the Power that was generated from Man of Steel.
Zatanna Zatara (my favorite card - talk about overpowered) to put Man of Steel or Bat Signal (for MoS itself OR Zatanna) or Robin or Paralax on the bottom of your deck. If you do not know what you're doing, you can screw this up, but if you know what you are doing and are able to count the number of cards in your deck correctly, you can easily control your ability to draw into those bottom cards before you have to shuffle your discard pile into your new deck. (Trust me on this: I do this all the time and that's why I am able to pull off stupid combos often.)
Riddler to take several cards at once.
If you hate it, don't play with it. Otherwise, just learn to deal with it and play around it. When I don't end up with Man of Steel, I sit there and buy as many Kicks as I can and any Super Powers that come up on my turn. This usually works pretty well.
