I'll be honest and say that I agree the theme of comic book superheroes doesn't come through 100%. The artwork is great and the character card's abilities do work pretty well to give you a sense that you are playing as that character. But why are the villains mixed in? Am I (as Wonder Woman) really attacking Green Lantern with Scarecrow?
It is a little weird.
But, overall, I think the game is pretty great. Mostly because my wife will play it with me. :)

Also, even though the mechanics have been done before, I think this is a great game to use to introduce people to DBGs.

As per comic book logic, the villains always return after their defeat. By being the one who beat them in the first place, you get to anticipate their re-appearance, thus suffer nothing negative from them. But the other heroes would be affected.
