Saturday Games Club 26th Oct 13

Had our usual Saturday games club (10 till 5 at New Life on Newland in Lincoln). There's always a fair amount of Cardfight and Yu-Gi-Oh especially amongst the younger players, but there's also a few of us that bring along boardgames.

Today I'd taken (among others) Age of Industry by Martin Wallace. This is one of those games that I like but don't play very often, and the other four people playing hadn't played it at all before. So for all of us there was quite a bit of head scratching over what to do, and for me the added complexity of having to teach the others which always ends up screwing me over - I remember a game of Agricola where I taught four new people and came miles last :-( However after a few turns we settled into it and ended up having a very enjoyable game, with a very close result, though I only managed fourth. We liked it so much that four of us decided to have another go at it straight away while the fifth went off to play DC Deckbuilding with some of his mates who had been playing Magic. This time we all seemed to play different strategies and this time my experience made sure I came home first. It's a pretty experienced gaming group so a win is always hard earned!

After that we didn't have time for a long game so Tsuro was brought out. This is a firm favourite with everyone and we dragged the guys who had been playing DC in as well - the more the merrier. They also loved it and we ended up having several games of this till time ran out!

My next session will be Tuesday and it's my turn to pick. I think I'll go for Agricola this week and try not to come last :-D
