I would agree that there are very few cards in the deck that are going to be bad for you and good for someone else.Thinking on all the matches I've played, the only card I have bought just to prevent someone else from getting it is Suicide Squad. 1 point for the first one, 4 points if you get a second one, 9 points if you get a 3rd one., they start to add up. But the +2 power and single victory point for a cost of 4 leaves it inferior to a kick on its own. The one extra point of cost over a kick is worth it to prevent the extra victory points in someone else's deck.
Otherwise, with a selection of only 5 cards, you really have to grab what you can get.
As far as "allowing" other players to pick up cards specifically tailored to their superhero, I think there are better games out there for this. Do you only let Flash get super-speed? Do you only let Wonder Woman capture villains and pick-up ineffective non-piercing equipment?
My Wonder Woman is pretty strong. And she has heat-vision. And she has green arrow's bow. Because you would be a fool not to pick up green arrow's bow.
