I had been looking to get a deck building game to play with my non-gaming wife in my futile quest to get her interested (luckily you do not seem to have that issue with your partner...).
While researching I actually tried out Dominion Online since it was free and required no sign-up. I played against computer opponents to get a feel for the game and ended up getting the DC Deck Building game which I decided was more palatable.
I will also say that one day when lamenting to my brother over the phone about my wife's aversion to board gaming with me, I found out he's big into gaming and when the subject of deck-building came up he vastly preferred Thunderstone Advance over Dominion in case you want to add that to your radar.
