I love deck builders. And though it's probably been a year since I played this one, I still remember that [late] night well. I played 2 games back to back with a group of guys, all 5 of us new to the game. I was dealt Flash for the first game, and Cyborg for the second. I won the first game only by a few points, but my score in the second game was embarrassing. I realize this had a lot to do with gaining the villain Lobo(I think that was the one) VERY early in the game, allowing me to begin burning the garbage from my deck. Then later I got Darkseid, and I tossed out every card that wasn't providing at least 3 power or extra draws. I took all but one of the super villains. Still, I really got the sense that Cyborg would consistently be a stronger character than Flash. His ability, while limited to +1 power and/or +1 draw, was usable almost every turn. I can see how one could build an awesome deck with Flash, but there just aren't as many cards available in the deck to do it. Cyborg's power makes him like a jack of all trades--a character you can always be happy to play as. A landslide victory with Flash might be a bit more satisfying though .Of course, I say this after only 2 plays...
I'd play this again and again if I could. I liked the variable player powers. LoTR:Fellowship of the Ring Deck Builder is on its way to my door. Variable player powers are gone...replaced with a single unique card for each character's deck. I hope it's as much fun!
