My top three wants from playing Epic Thunderstone and StarTrek DBG:

1. Use customizable decks but not in stacks so we have to pick our best teams possible based on what comes out (this would be a mix between Penny Arcade and Ascension)!

2. Use victory tokens or a side place for defeated villains (no one likes it when you put "wins" in your deck and then they become worthless until the scoring phase).

3. Add some randomly distributed goals for each player (one person has to help another beat a boss; one has to beat their hero's rough's gallery first before selecting others; one person has to recruit two heroes that are a part of their super-family)

I know the game is set to release in August (already saving up :)) but it couldn't hurt sharing our ideas with Matt Hyra and the DC team!

Based on what we've seen so far, I think you're #1 item above will happen. In fact, if I recall correctly, one of the previews linked to in the "more female characters" thread compares it to exactly the two games you mention.

Regarding your second item above, I guess I am "no one" because I like the mechanic of games like Dominion where Victory points can clog up your deck ;) It adds an added level of strategy IMHO because you are always having to balance gaining quick points vs. staying effective down the road. But in regards to the DC game, it appears that every card has Victory points on it; Villains go to your deck, but they have a later game effect you can put to use, similar to some of the Thunderstone monsters.

Your third idea would be very cool. And even if it's not part of the game at launch, it seems like the kind of thing that can be added in an expansion.

My own wishes for the game:

1) Diversity of characters and source material. I don't just mean appropriate numbers of female characters, minority characters, GLBT characters, etc. (though DC is continuing to improve in this area, so hopefully that's a given). But when the New 52 launched DC introduced/reintroduced many titles and characters that fall outside the traditional super-hero boundaries. They launched horror titles, war titles, fantasy titles, western titles, titles set in the past, tiles set in the future, etc. I hope some of this makes it into the game. I think I'll be a little bored if this is just a game of Justce League and Justice League-adjacent characters.

2) Good theme integration. I hope that the card effects actually feel like the characters upon whom they are based. The Ra's al Ghul card has me hopeful.

3) This probably goes without saying, but I want it to be a good, unique game... not just a Dominion/Ascenion/whatever clone. A game that is accessible and fun enough to get my comic friends to play it, but complex and differentiated enough that my gamer friends won't just want to play something else instead.

4) And, provided everything else I am wanting above comes true, I want expansions. Soon. :)
