I strongly disagree, I hated that about LotR CCG. Not only did it make deck building a pain, but at any given turn, half of your deck was useless (and very often, several cards in your hand were useless).
Though, I will say having players battle each other with heroes vs. villains would be neat. A multiplayer-solitaire style deckbuilder would feel kind of odd for this kind of license.

But I agree with you definitely about the multiplayer-solitaire. I don't want to see solitaire or co-op.
