As a noob player who has played both of these games recently, I agree with a lot of what people have brought up.

Legendary is more "complex" but really lacking in theme. The setup/take down time was quite long. I never really felt any angst about losing, as the "lose some cards from the big stack" mechanism was something that just happened in the background. Certainly it was odd with all the various versions of spider man, etc.

DC was much quicker to setup and easier to play. The archvillain attacks were quite striking, I had a number of "great plays" randomly destroyed by someone else taking down an arch villain. Playing as a certain Hero was more thematic, and it did give me an idea of how I should try to build my deck. But you still have the disconnect of "using" villains on your team? The downside of "theme" is that if you don't have lucky draws, you can't really build your engine. I was superman and it seemed all the powers were sucked up by the time it was my turn again. Overall it was easier to learn, played fast, but felt quite random between the "theme" focus and archvillain attacks.
