Yep not only is it possible it's pretty much a huge advantage to be able to do this on your turn if you have the draw cards in your deck.
It's one of the things that makes Aquaman one of the best heroes (IMHO).
It's not your older boring DBG (See Dominion) where everything is overly structured.
It's your hand how you play it is up to you!
I thought that was the case, and good to know we played it correctly.
I am still surprised at some of the combos I see in this game even after playing it multiple times! I like it and believe it keeps things interesting.
