First, welcome to the addiction. You will see that everyone in this community is quite avid about the game and it's potential as well as are actively involved in developing variants.

To answer your questions, you should have a main deck which consists of villains, equipment, heroes, locations and super powers. The 5 cards that come off this main deck are the "lineup". These are the cards

"Your deck" starts as 3 vulnerabilities and 7 punches. Shuffle, draw 5 cards and use the strength costs found in the text field to purchase cards or defeat the supervillain using the numbers found in the gray circles. Cards that are purchased/defeated along with your drawn hand are placed in a discard pile. Continue to draw and play from your deck until it runs out. Shuffle your discard pile to become your, now stronger, deck. Wash, rinse, repeat until you defeat all super villains.

Super villain question: Yes, they have a first appearance when they are flipped over on the super villain deck that attacks everyone playing. Once someone defeats them and they go into that players deck, when they are played, the secondary text field is put in effect to all other players.
