I understand the criticisms levelled against this game, and other deckbuilders like Legendary, Ascension etc, but I almost never manage to empathise, maybe I am just far too forgiving. The 'theme implementation car crash' issue with this game for example - it never for a moment even ocurred to me to question that fact that I have Batman as a character card but might also have villains, equipment used by other characters, super powers etc in my deck (the whole Wonder-Woman-wearing-Batman's-cape thing). I am leading a group (maybe), I get ongoing bonuses for having 'defeated' a villain which is represented by me having that card in my deck (perhaps), when another player has the Dark Knight or any other Batman card in play it's me nipping over to give them a hand (possibly)...
We love love love love this game, for its theme and gorgeous artwork and simple yet tight mechanisms and super coffee-shop friendliness. In fact, the only thing I can think of (if really pushed) as a criticism is that it can be really difficult to destroy cards and sort out my deck. But that's a feature I am aware of so I play around that (e.g. careful buying, think twice before using Supergirl to pack your deck out with kick cards etc).

I think you MAY be too forgiving. But that's really not a problem, because that's how you see the game, and if you enjoy it--then that's all that matters.
